At the opening today of the new parliamentary session, the outgoing Spanish prime minister, the socialist Pedro Sanchez, today won a first battle with a view to an eventual reappointment in office. In the early hours of the morning, they reached an agreement with the Catalan independence party of Carles Puigdemont, which allowed them to collect the necessary votes for the election today of the socialist Francina Armengol, as President of the Spanish Parliament.
