Spain Claims Gold at the “Parc des Princes”
In an electrifying match at the “Parc des Princes,” “La Roja” secured their second gold medal in history, following their triumph in Barcelona in 1992 with Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique.
In this year’s final, 21-year-old forward Fermín López dazzled the crowd with two goals (18’, 25’), while Álex Baena added a third with a sublime free kick in the 28th minute.
Despite trailing 3-1, the French team, led by Titi Henry, fought valiantly. Enzo Mihyo opened the scoring in the 6th minute, while Magnez Aklious pulled one back in the 79th minute and Mateta converted a penalty in stoppage time to equalize.
However, it was Spanish substitute Sergio Camegio who emerged as the hero in extra time, netting two goals in the 100th and 120+1’ minutes to secure the victory. This triumph adds to Spain’s recent successes, following their triumph at the Euro 2024 tournament.
