”The 25 years of reign of HM King Mohammed VI are as much a celebration for the Moroccan people as a commemoration of the strength of the relations uniting Morocco and Spain,” Mr. Planas told MAP, on the sidelines of the reception offered, Tuesday evening in Madrid, by the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Ms. Karima Benyaich, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the accession of HM King Mohammed VI to the Throne of His glorious ancestors.

The relationship that unites Morocco and Spain is a “close relationship of friendship, cooperation and common work,” he said.

The Spanish minister highlighted, to this end, “the significant improvement in bilateral relations and its positive impact on the development of the two countries, as well as on the two African and European continents.”

He also highlighted the common challenges facing the two nations, saying that “our two countries face great challenges that they must overcome together, particularly in economic cooperation, social progress and security.”

For the Spanish official, Morocco positions itself as “a model both in Africa and in the Arab world, thanks to its remarkable economic dynamic and the significant commitment of its civil society.”

Addressing the future prospects of bilateral relations, Mr. Planas highlighted, among other things, the joint candidacy of Morocco, Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which he considered “a golden opportunity to work together to achieve our future ambitions.”
