”The enlistment of innocent children in the child soldiers“>Tindouf camps by the armed militia of +polisario+, in the face of incomprehensible international inaction, must be denounced and investigated,” stressed the Spanish NGOs. ‘Freedom is a right’ and ‘Pedro Ignacio Altamirano’, during a meeting on Saturday in Seville.

”Articles 38 and 39 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted on November 20, 1989, are clear and must be respected from a moral and ethical point of view. This is why we must look into the inhuman exploitation of children in wars all over the world, and more particularly in the Tindouf camps by the armed militia of +polisario+, noted the NGO ‘Pedro Ignacio Altamirano”, focusing on the ordeal of the populations sequestered in the Tindouf camps, in Algeria, and the drama of exploitation of child soldiers recruited by the ”Polisario”.

Therefore, the Spanish association insisted on the opening of an “urgent and in-depth investigation” by the international community and independent civil society into these “flagrant violations of a fundamental human right, which affects children, the most deprived and those most in need of protection.

”Consequently, the cases of people detained and held by the armed +polisario+ militia in the Tindouf camps should be taken into account by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights,” argued the NGO, adding that the “polisario” torturers must answer for these violations before international justice.

”As a civil society, we cannot allow attitudes that harm the full development of children, as enshrined in the Declaration of Human Rights, to persist, and even less so when it comes to of intolerable violence against the rights of innocent children victims of violations of the +polisario+”, warned, for its part, the NGO “Freedom is a right”, in front of an audience of experts and jurists.

Faced with “incomprehensible international inaction”, the enlistment of children in the Tindouf camps is a “serious violation of human rights which must be denounced”, underlined the association active in the defense of human rights.

”It is time to assume our social responsibility in the defense of human rights, particularly with regard to children held and exploited in the Tindouf camps,” she said.
