The Spanish tourism has closed 2022 with the full recovery of its activityexceeding the pre-covid level by 1.4%, with a nominal 159,490 million euros, equivalent to 12.2% of the Spanish economy, a weight that, however, is still below the 12.6% reached in 2019 .

The contribution of tourism to the growth of the Spanish economy in 2022 is 60.8%, according to the Alliance for Tourism Excellence, Exceltur, which is confident that the tourism recovery will consolidate this year, with 168,453 million euros, a 7, 1% more than before the pandemic.

Its executive vice-president, José Luis Zoreda, explained this Tuesday at a press conference that the notable recovery in revenue has not been transferred with the same intensity to business results, due to the sharp increase in costs (28.9% energy, 17.1% for supplies and 8.9% for labor) which has not been able to offset the average rise in prices of 6.6%.
