Spartak received no inquiries from the Netherlands in connection with the charge against Promes

Spartak Moscow commented on reports that the Dutch prosecutor’s office brought charges against the football player Quincy Promes. The club claims that it has not received any requests from “competent authorities”. “Spartak” called the messages “an ordinary procedural story, which at the moment does not change anything.”

“Promes is fully focused on the upcoming matches. <...> As for media reports, Spartak will rely only on official requests from the competent authorities, and such requests have not been received and the club’s address has not been received, ”the club said in a statement (quoted from the Championship).

De Telegraaf reported today that the Dutch prosecutor’s office has brought charges against the 29-year-old man for attempted murder of his cousin. The message does not contain the name of the accused, but describes the events in connection with which Promes was previously detained. He was arrested in December 2020 on suspicion of involvement in an attack on a cousin who was stabbed in the leg. The footballer was released from custody a few days after his arrest.

Quincy Promes moved to Spartak at the end of February from Ajax Amsterdam for € 8.5 million. The footballer’s contract with the Moscow club is for three and a half years.
