Spartans Achieve Top-10 Finishes at Phill Hansel Invitational

The San José State University women’s swimming and diving team concluded competition at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas, on Friday, November 22, 2025, securing four top-10 individual finishes. The team demonstrated strong performances across multiple events, setting season-best times and achieving notable rankings within the program’s history.

Strong Individual Performances Highlight Competition

Vilma Lindberg led the Spartans with a fifth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, clocking a season-best time of 2:14.43. This performance underscored her position as a key contributor to the team’s success.

In the 200 backstroke, Karlee Marusik secured seventh place with a time of 2:00.51. This result is notably significant as it places her seventh all-time among San José State’s top performers in the event.

The 200 butterfly saw Genevieve George finish eighth at 2:00.88, closely followed by Lillie Grover, who won the “B” final heat with a time of 2:00.04,earning her ninth place overall.

– Vilma Lindberg’s 2:14.43 in the 200 breaststroke is a season-best time and a strong indicator of her potential for championship-level competition this season.

Relay Team Achieves Historic Time

the San José State 400 freestyle relay team,comprised of Lillie Grover,Mya Azzopardi,Nikki Lahey,and Keira Vail,finished sixth with a time of 3:21.81. This time ranks as the eighth-fastest in school history, demonstrating the team’s growing strength in relay events.
