New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah has said that people from different states should speak in Hindi and not in English. Amit Shah opined that Hindi should be used instead of English, not as a vernacular. Amit Shah was speaking at the official language committee meeting of the parliament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to make Hindi the official language of the government. This will increase the importance of Hindi. Hindi should be the official language for the unity of the country. Amit Shah told MPs that about 70 per cent of the cabinet’s agendas are already being prepared in Hindi.

Hindi should be further expanded by adopting other local languages. Otherwise the language will not get publicity. 22,000 Hindi teachers have been deployed in the northern Indian states. Nine tribals here have translated their language into Devanagari. In addition, eight states in northern India have promised to make Hindi compulsory in schools up to Class X, Amit Shah said.
