Delhi: Speaker Om Birla came to the scene with a strong opposition protest against the Parliament action banning 65 words including corruption. Banning some words is not a new thing. It is a practice since 1954. It is only a Parliament action. Unhealthy discussions should be held because of it. The opposition should not mislead the country. demanded

‘All words critical of Modi are unparliamentary’; Rahul Gandhi with sarcasm

Parliament banned the word corruption

More than sixty words such as corruption, corruptor, tyrant, narcissist, rascal, dull-witted, whore, Khalistani, ruinous man, double personality, fraud, coward, criminal, crocodile tears, ass, drama, eye dust etc. are prohibited. It is suggested that these words should not be used in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Any use of words included in the Unparliamentary List shall be removed from the records. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha can take a decision in this regard. A booklet given to members before the annual session of Parliament begins on Monday details the words that should not be used.

Parties including Congress and Trinamool Congress strongly opposed the Lok Sabha Secretariat proposal. Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said that the words used by the opposition against the government have been banned. He also mocked the prime minister by asking what Vishwaguru’s next move would be. Trinamool Congress MP Derrick O’Brien challenged that he will use the forbidden words and if he is expelled, let him be expelled. The opposition has decided to file a complaint with the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha against the process of preparing the booklet without consultation

At the same time, the Lok Sabha Secretariat explained that the booklet was prepared last year and has only been delivered to the MPs now. There used to be many words that should not be used. Sources in the Lok Sabha Secretariat also clarified that the booklet has now been expanded. During the turmoil in the House, the words used by the opposition, including the Prime Minister, expressed intolerance at many points. Government pressure to suppress opposing voices is believed to be behind the move.
