As the first Legislative Assembly session of 2023 began with the Governor’s address, the incidents that took place in the Legislative Assembly on the first day created a stir in the political circles. When the Governor omitted some words in the speech prepared by the government, and when the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister proposed a resolution against it, the Governor immediately left the House, causing a stir.

Following this, various parties expressed their opinions about the governor. In this situation, two days ago, at the centenary function of Prof. Anbazhagan held in Virugambakkam area, a DMK speaker named Sivaji Krishnamurthy spoke slanderously about the Governor of Tamil Nadu and the video footage went viral on social media.

In this case, the Deputy Secretary of the Governor had lodged a complaint with the Chennai Metropolitan Police. The Chennai Metropolitan Police requested the Tamil Nadu Government to take legal advice on this complaint and proceed with the defamation case against Shivaji Krishnamurthy through the court. The DMK leadership did not support Shivaji Krishnamurthy’s speech. Minister M. Subramanian had said that this is regrettable.

In this case, the general secretary of the party Duraimurugan has ordered to temporarily remove the speaker Sivaji Krishnamurthy from all responsibilities including basic membership of DMK.
