Chennai: Omegron virus testing and six-hour isolation at the Chennai airport for foreign travelers came into effect from yesterday.

The Federal Department of Health is taking serious action to prevent the spread of the corona’s omicron virus into India; The Government of Tamil Nadu is also paying special attention.

Effective from yesterday

Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu People’s Welfare Department has ordered RTPCR to test passengers arriving in Tamil Nadu from 12 countries, including South Africa, China, European countries, Israel and Singapore.
They are also advised to keep the passenger waiting at the airport until the test results come out. To oversee this, the Tamil Nadu People’s Welfare Department has appointed separate officers for the respective airports.
This procedure has been in effect since yesterday at the Chennai International Airport. The international passenger, RTPCR, who arrived yesterday, was checked in and isolated for six hours.

Not allowed

According to a government announcement, the Airports Authority has arranged for a new arrivals area at the International Airport to be isolated after a passenger test sample from 12 countries is issued. It can isolate up to 450 passengers at a time. Arrangements have also been made to send the passenger in part, without sending them out all at once, once the isolation time is over.
Necessary arrangements have been made within other facilities, including food for the traveler.
