Special Committee Recommended to Investigate Hate Speech Complaints Against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri

New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, has received recommendations to establish a special committee to investigate hate speech complaints against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri. The BJP itself has also proposed the formation of this committee.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey urged Speaker Om Birla to initiate an inquiry committee to examine the hate speech allegations against Ramesh Bidhuri. Consequently, a 14-member Privilege Committee has been formed, with 8 members belonging to the BJP, including Sunil Kumar Singh. A source from the Lok Sabha Secretariat stated that “the Privileges Committee will investigate all complaints related to hate speech.”

Ramesh Bidhuri, an MP from the ruling BJP government at the Centre, has recently been accused of making hateful comments directed at his fellow Member of Parliament, Danish Ali of the Bahujan Samaj Party. These comments were made during a discussion on Chandrayaan-3 in Parliament. Several political parties have condemned these statements as Islamophobic. In light of this, the BJP has issued a notice to Ramesh Bidhuri, requesting an explanation for his remarks.

“Why should you not face disciplinary action for using such derogatory language?” questioned the BJP towards Ramesh Bidhuri. In response, Danish Ali has threatened to resign from his position if no action is taken against Ramesh Bidhuri.

Ramesh Bidhuri currently serves as the Member of Parliament for the Delhi South Constituency.
