jpnn.comJAKARTA – Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) Gus Saifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul said that currently his party is discussing forming a special committee (pansus) to return the National Awakening Party (PKB) to NU.
“The special committee will be called the Team of Five who will work to straighten out the history of the PKB,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement to journalists in Jakarta, Friday.
Gus Ipul said that the legal owner of the political party led by PKB General Chairman Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar is NU.
“PBNU is discussing, if necessary, the formation of Team Five will be carried out immediately,” he said.
He assessed that the PKB elites made many statements that deviated from the initial etiquette of the PKB. In fact, he suspected that there was a real and systematic effort by the party elite to distance the PKB from the NU structure.
“This step was taken after seeing the ahistorical statements of the PKB elite. There are signs that they will run away from the history of the founding of the PKB,” he said.
He said that PKB was founded by the PBNU structure down to the branches and sub-branches of NU management. Without the NU structure, PKB would never have been formed.
In addition, he considered that there were several statements from PKB elites who considered that PBNU did not need to be listened to. In fact, without listening to PBNU, according to Gus Ipul, PKB was proven to have failed in the presidential election some time ago.
Meanwhile, the Team of Five that will be formed will resemble the Team of Five that was previously formed by PBNU at the beginning of the reformation when it founded PKB.
The Five Team, he said, would soon be realized if it received approval from Rais Aam KH Miftachul Ahyar and PBNU General Chair KH Yahya Cholil Staquf.
“We will invite all figures and NU activists to join us to ask for their opinions regarding this matter,” said Gus Ipul. (between/jpnn)
