According to the Pope’s MOTU PROPRIO speech, which gives new energy to missionary work, Archbishop Fernando Ocáriz said that a special general council will be held in 2023 to create changes that benefit everyone, not the changes we want.

Archbishop Fernando Ocáriz has announced that a special General Assembly of the global Catholic devotional organization Opus Dei will be held in the first half of 2023, based on the emphasis on the changes announced by the Pope through the Motu Proprio statement, entitled “Ad charisma tuendum” which means “in defense of privacy”.

Ocáriz said that he is working together with the General Council and the Central Council of Advisors on how to implement the Motu Proprio ideas that the Pope emphasizes, and that this meeting of OPUS DEI will not only bring about the changes we want, such as the annual report on the patrons, and the changes related to them, but also the changes that will be beneficial to everyone.

While commemorating the 20th anniversary of the canonization of St. Jose Maria, the founder of OPUS DEI, Archbishop Fernando Ocáriz has said that all the efforts made for this congregation will bring good results and strengthen the lives of everyone.

Also, His Excellency Fernando Ocáriz has requested that those who want to give their suggestions to the assembly of this organization, which mostly consists of public officials, will be informed as soon as possible about the action plans, and that all the questions asked and the suggestions given should be based on the emphasis of the Council and the by-laws of the organization should be set up in a way that benefits everyone.

Saint Jose Maria was canonized on October 6, 2002 by Pope John Paul II.
