The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) has signed an agreement with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme. KISR Director General Dr.Mania Al-Sudairawi said that the project is being implemented in two areas in the southern part of the Iraq-Kuwait border area. The project has been designed in an area of ​​8212 square kilometers in both regions.

After conducting scientific studies for the project, the areas to be implemented were decided. The project aims at mitigating the effects of sandstorms, dust storms and weather problems. Estimates estimate that the annual loss due to dust storms in Kuwait is 190 million dinars.
