Due to the war waged by Russia in Ukraine, the Polish Football Association has advocated an extraordinary transfer window for players in the Russian league.

As reported by “The Guardian”, the Polish association has submitted a proposal to the world association FIFA to give players in the league the opportunity to change clubs. Russian teams had been banned from international competitions due to the attack on the neighboring country.

The German coaches Markus Gisdol (Lok Moscow) and Daniel Farke (Krasnodar) have already left their clubs and no longer want to work in Russia. Players should now also have this option and be allowed to change before the transfer window opens in the summer. Due to economic sanctions against Russia, clubs could find it difficult to pay their players.

On Wednesday, the international players’ association Fifpro also brought this step into play. One is already in talks with FIFA and the leagues, it said. In addition, Fifpro called for foreign professionals in Russia to be granted a special right of termination and thus a free transfer. (dpa)
