Agency surveyed the opinions of Iraqi football specialists after the match between the Iraqi national team and South Korea, which is the last friendly match for the Iraqi national team before entering the official Asian competitions scheduled in Qatar on the 12th of this month.

The coach and football expert Kazem Al-Rubaie told Agency that the match came at a very important time and revealed the mistakes of our national team’s lines, which Kasas will certainly seek to address during the remaining period of the Asian Championship, especially since it will face a strong team similar in style to Korea, which is Japan, which plays in Iraq’s group, and it is likely that our team will meet its South Korean counterpart in the round of 16 as well, and this is what will serve us after its game became exposed in front of Kasas.
He pointed out that the Korean team, which includes senior players who play in European leagues, played with high pressure on our players and controlled the match, while our players lacked focus and seemed to lack harmony, especially since we saw players meeting the squad for the first time. He indicated that the gathering in the remaining days in the Emirates will be an opportunity for the players to adapt and harmonize before entering the Asian Championship in Qatar.
He continued, saying, “Our players were in awe of a team with a great international and continental name like South Korea, which had possession for most of the match, with timid attacks by our national team players who wasted three clear scoring opportunities.”
A tough match.. and making a difference was possible
In turn, the coach and football analyst Bassam Raouf told that the match was difficult for the Iraqi team as we expected, especially since it faced the Korean team, which is a first-class team on the continent. It is a capable team that possesses speed, possession of the ball, spread, transfer of balls and high pressure. Therefore, it was a good opportunity for the team to enter the Asian Championship after this match, although Casas has not yet settled on a fixed lineup.
He added that there are distinguished players in our national team such as Ali Jassim, Zidane Iqbal, Danilo Saeed, Muntadher Majed, Yousef Al-Amin, Hussein Ali and others who need a longer period to build them up, indicating that such players can make a difference because they have good levels, but they need experience through continuity and international friendly matches.
He added that losing a friendly match does not mean despair, but rather it will help the national team to face teams equal in level and performance to Korea, such as Japan, noting that the loss was not heavy despite the strength of the Korean team, but I say that this team will be the future of the national team and will be the best representative of Iraqi football after a certain period.
He continued by saying: There remains the coach’s method and tactics that he will adopt in playing according to his convictions in the Asian Championship, especially since our national team is a championship awaiting an official championship that has its own character, style and circumstances, indicating that the Iraqi national team is known for playing in difficult circumstances and achieving good results.
He stressed that our match against Korea was beneficial because it was at a high level in the final stage of preparing and building the team, and Kasas will certainly work to overcome the technical errors so that the team will appear well in the Asian Championship.
Advice for Casas
While the Iraqi football coach Sadiq Hanoun told Agency that the match was strong, especially since our team faced a big team like the Korean team, which has all the players who play in the European leagues.
He added, I believe that the situation of our national team is still good and there are players who presented themselves in a positive way, and on the other hand there are players who did not appear at the required level, indicating that now the picture has become clear to the coach after he got to know the levels of all the players, but on the basis of settling on the final formation in order to achieve harmony and create agreement with the players.
Hanoun concluded, “My advice to Casas is to rely on experienced players so that they have the largest share in the first match in the Asian Championship, due to the experience they possess, which is required in such strong continental championships, in addition to relying on the most prepared players who have played many matches, especially in their leagues, especially since the championship needs a high physical aspect.”
