Specialists removed a 12-kilometer oil slick from the Neva

by time news

Residents of St. Petersburg today, on October 29, found an oil slick on the Neva, on the section from Vantovoy to Bolsheokhtinsky bridge (about 12 km). The mayor’s office reports that the pollution has already been eliminated.

After the citizens who noticed the spot turned to the regional Rospriodnadzor, the department reported that the source of pollution was the runoff of oil products, which was directed to the Murzinka River. This issue is under the jurisdiction of the city water utility, in connection with which “administrative measures” will be applied to it.

During the day, four specialists worked on the bottling, who processed the film with special foam (it was impossible to collect it due to its thinness).

Later, the Committee for Nature Management of St. Petersburg announced that the pollution had been eliminated.
