Speech by the Head of State regarding the appointment of a new Cabinet

State President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s statement on the appointment of a new cabinet will be aired tonight.

The President’s statement will be broadcast on all television and radio at 07.30 pm, according to the President’s Media Unit.

Despite the appointment of a new cabinet, four top government officials remain unchanged, according to the head of state’s media unit.

Mahinda Rajapaksa will continue his duties as Prime Minister while the ministries under President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa will remain unchanged. It has been announced that Peiris will continue as Foreign Minister and Ali Sabri will continue as Finance Minister.
