“I’m going through a difficult time, I’ve been in rehab for a few days and it’s slowly improving,” he told the German Press Agency via a spokeswoman for the sports rights company Infront, where he sits in management. In one operation, the 71-year-old had six bypasses.
The “Bild” newspaper and “Sport Bild” first reported on Netzer’s illness. His wife Elvira was quoted as saying: “My husband needs absolute rest for a few more weeks. But with the heart, all tests show that everything is fine so far. We are very thankful.”
