Five of the 40 Olympic medals won by Italy in Tokyo 2021 come from Puglia: they are the three golds of Palmisano, Stano and Dell’Aquila, with the double silver of Samele, and the Puglia Region has decided to reward the protagonists of these Olympics . And also the athletes of the Paralympic Games, in a ceremony – Wednesday 15 September at 6 pm at the Kursaal Santalucia Theater in Bari – which he calls a party and is dedicated to Apulian Pride.
Governor Michele Emiliano will deliver the “Root of Puglia” award to Antonella Palmisano (gold in the 20 km women’s walk), Massimo Stano (gold in the 20 km men’s walk), Vito dell’Aquila (gold in the men’s 58 kg Taekwondo category) , Luigi Samele (double silver in the individual and team sabers), Vittoria Bianco (gold in the women’s 4×100 meters freestyle relay) and Luca Mazzone (silver in the H2 individual time trial cycling, silver in the H1-H2 road race and gold in the H1 handbike relay -5). «Sport comes from the territory – reads a note from the Puglia Region – for this reason the evening will be dedicated to the athletes who participated in the Olympics and to the technicians who trained them in the Apulian sports clubs. Olympians and technicians will receive a plaque as a sign of gratitude for having raised the values of Puglia ».
