The SPORT1 family is mourning the loss of Tomas “Shorty” Seyler. The darts pioneer dies aged 49.

Just at “180” in the best sense, now stunned and great impact: The SPORT1-The family is mourning the loss of Tomas “Shorty” Seyler, who died suddenly, unexpectedly and far too soon on Thursday at the age of just 49.

He had been in hospital since June 29 after failing health.

Seyler wrote a history of German darts

He also made history as a darts professional: in 2006 he and Andree Welge were the first German participants in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Darts Championship. “Shorty” had previously won the national championship three times as the former No. 1 in German darts (2001, 2003 and 2004). He started playing darts when he was nine years old – encouraged by his father.
