The transfer of Mateus Fernandes from Sporting to Southampton is confirmed. This Tuesday, the “lions” communicated to the Securities Market Commission (CMVM) about a deal in which they will receive 15 million euros for the midfielder, plus five million in potential add-ons.
Mateus Fernandes, who completed his entire training at Sporting from the Under-13 level, with a loan season to Estoril in 2023-24, will thus play in the Premier League. Depending on individual and collective performance, the transfer could reach 20 million, with the “lions” also securing 10% of any future transfer profit. Ten percent is also the percentage they will pay for the intermediary services.

At 20 years old, the midfielder born in Olhão signs a contract valid until 2029 and expresses his satisfaction with the decision. “I am very happy to be here. It is a dream come true to be able to play in England and in the Premier League. It is the best league in the world, with the best coaches, the best players, the best teams,” summarized Mateus Fernandes, as quoted by the Southampton website.
