Sporting Cristal dispelled doubts, extended its dominance over Sport Boys, and secured its first victory in the Clausura of Liga 1. Guillermo Farré’s team thrashed 4-0 at the Alberto Gallardo and is hopeful of being a title contender in the tournament.
Following the painful defeat against ADT in Tarma, the Argentine coach aimed to be solid in defense and from there seek victory against the Misilera.
While looking for its best footballing form, Guillermo Farré’s Sporting Cristal has a guarantee of goals, and that is Martín Cauteruccio.
Just like in Tarma, the Uruguayan striker emerged to score the first goal for the Rimense team. At 30′, Caute took advantage of an assist from Santiago González and opened the scoring at the Alberto Gallardo.
Sporting Cristal kept searching, but could not convert its chances until at 77′, Cauteruccio connected with a cross from Nicolás Pasquini and overcame the resistance of Steven Rivadeneyra.
In the final moments, the home team made the most of set pieces from Martín Távara’s foot and the aerial strength of Martín Lutiger. At 89′, a left-footed cross, a flick-on from the center-back, and a scissors kick from González made it 3-0. A couple of minutes later, Lutiger again dominated in the opposing area and sealed the score with a powerful header.
In the next round of the Clausura, Sporting Cristal will face Cienciano on Saturday the 27th at the Alberto Gallardo, while Sport Boys will visit Deportivo Garcilaso in Cusco on Friday the 26th.
