Gyökeres scores twice in the 3-0 away win; Alvalade team will decide a place in the decision against the winner of Vizela x Benfica

Sporting defeated União de Leiria 3-0 on Wednesday night (7) in the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup. Swedish striker Gyökeres scored twice and was decisive in the victory at the Estádio Municipal de Leiria. He also provided the assist for Pedro Gonçalves to also find the net.
In one of the semifinals, the Alvalade team will face the winner of the clash between Vizela and Benfica, who face each other this Friday.
One of the favorites to win the tournament, Sporting entered the field with maximum strength against an opponent who had the support of the local fans, but failed to surprise the opponent. The Lions reached the break with a good lead after goals from Gyökeres, in the 32nd minute, and Pedro Gonçalves, in the 37th minute, respectively. Upon returning from the break, the Swede scored his second, in the 29th minute, and added final numbers to the scoreboard. In Sporting’s last six games, Gyökeres scored four times (Tondela, Vizela, Casa Pia and União Leiria).
With the Swedish striker’s 26 goals this season, Sporting will have to put their hand in their pocket. After all, it was defined in one of the clauses in the transfer that if the player hit 25 balls in the net for the Lions, the club would have to pay another million euros to Coventry.
