Follow the vice because the leader fired. Sporting visited Famalicão this Tuesday, in a delayed game of the 20th round of the Portuguese Championship, and won 1-0 at the Estádio Municipal 22 de Junho. The only goal of the game was from Pedro Gonçalves, Pote.
Thus, with the result, the Lions reached 77 points and increased their lead in the national tournament. Rúben Amorim’s team has seven more than second-placed Benfica, with five rounds remaining in the tournament. Famalicão, in turn, is in eighth, with 35 points.
Pote opened and defined the score in the 19th minute of the first half. Sporting recovered the ball in midfield and set up a quick counterattack. The ball reached the feet of top scorer Gyökeres, who passed it to Trincão. The Portuguese reversed and found Pedro Gonçalves, who hit the goalkeeper’s exit to find the net.
Famalicão and Sporting return to the field next Sunday, once again for the Portuguese Championship. Fama faces Portimonense, at home, while the Leões are committed to Vitória de Guimarães, also at home.
