Sporting beat Benfica again, four days later. The leader of the Portuguese Championship won on the gong against his runner-up during the Lisbon derby (2-1) this Saturday, thanks to a double from Geny Catamo.
The Mozambican opened the scoring in the first minute, before closing the score in stoppage time with a superb half-volley from a corner. Just before the break, Alexander Bah headed a free kick from Angel Di Maria to allow the Eagles to equalize.
Thanks to this success, Sporting is getting closer to the title and is four points ahead of its evening opponent, with a game in hand. For Benfica, this setback comes at a bad time, five days before facing OM in the quarter-final first leg of the Europa League.
