“The best view is from here,” Tamim Iqbal told Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud as he entered the press box at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Asif’s visit to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as if Tamim was a guide!
Sports advisor came to BCB at 1 pm on Monday (August 19). Tamim appeared before that. There was no room in front of the BCB office for the throngs of people coming under the banner of student-sports organizers. Slogans continued with various demands. After several minutes he had to get out of the car.
BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan accepted the sports advisor. He took him to the BCB office. After talking there for a while, he started visiting the various facilities in the field. See all the facilities. After the field tour, the visit starts from the press box and ends at the BCB Academy, Gymnasium. Tamim showed him everything.
The sports advisor is in constant touch with Tamim about BCB. Tamim came to BCB because of his arrival. After leaving the academy, Asif again went to the BCB office. Sometimes met with his women’s cricket team.
Asif also said to take notes about what BCB needs, ‘After getting new responsibility, we are looking at all the facilities under the Ministry of Sports. Was supposed to go to BKSP today, couldn’t go, BCBO came to sports directorate. I was looking around the infrastructure facilities.’
‘Meet the women’s cricket team. They are going to play the Women’s T20 World Cup ahead. And I took note of the things that need improvement here. I hope we can fix them in the future’- added the youth and sports advisor.
BCB chief executive Nizamuddin was Asif’s constant companion. Later in his response to the media, he said the reason for the Sports Adviser’s visit was, ‘visited the office and saw the facilities we have. As far as I understand the main point of his coming today is that the advisor may have more plans, may go to other federations soon. He may have come to our cricket board as a result of that.
However, Nizamuddin said that there was no discussion about the BCB Interim Committee today, ‘Today there was no specific discussion with anyone. There was a very cordial discussion about their experiences. Everyone shared with each other, everyone’s experiences in different places. These issues have been fairly discussed. Specifically, as you want to know, no such thing was discussed.’
