The new trailer of the sports drama ‘Jersey’ starring Shahid Kapoor has been released. The film, which was scheduled to hit theaters on December 31, 2021, has been postponed due to the Omicron expansion. Jersey was the first film to be released at that time. The new release date is April 14th. The line-up has just released a one-and-a-half minute long trailer.

The film is the Bollywood debut of Telugu director Gautham Thinnanuri. The movie is a remake of Gautham’s 2019 Telugu movie of the same name starring Nani. Shahid plays a cricketer who has never been successful in his life. The protagonist Arjun Raichand is in a situation where he has to struggle to fulfill his son’s desire for a jersey.

The film was announced to hit theaters in August 2020 at the time of project announcement. But in the context of Kovid, the filming itself went on and on. The heroine is Mrinal Thakur. Ronit Kamra, Sharad Kelkar and Pankaj Kapoor play other roles. Produced by Dil Raju, S Naga Vamsi and Aman Gill. Cinematography by Anil Mehta, editing by Naveen Nooli, background music by Anirudh Ravichandran, sports choreographer Rob Miller and action director Manohar Verma. The film will be directed by Shahid after the huge success of Kabir Singh.

‘RRR’ type gum; John Abraham’s attack at the box office

Bollywood’s long-held dominance at the Indian box office is becoming a thing of the past. South Indian films, especially Telugu films, are getting better response at the box office than Bollywood films. When Rajamouli’s Bahubali started this trend, many did not think it would actually be a start. But the second part of Bahubali and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and now Rajamouli’s RRR are getting good response all over India. Through KGF, Kannada cinema also reached the Pan Indian Reach and box office success. The Bollywood industry is currently in a state of panic over South Indian films hitting the big canvas in theaters at the same time. The latest example of this is the cold response to the latest movie Attack starring John Abraham at the box office.

John will be seen in a military role in Attack, directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, the director of the series including The Holiday. John’s lead role in the action thriller has been hailed as India’s first Super Soldier. The film was expected to have a Bollywood minimum guarantee considering the recent success of films with a military background. But the response to the film at the box office has been overwhelming. The film, which hit theaters this Friday, grossed only Rs 3.51 crore on its opening day. This is according to Taran Adarsh, a leading trade analyst. According to another trade analyst, Sumit Kadel, the second day collection of the film was only Rs 3.25 crore.

This is a bad collection considering it is a Bollywood movie. According to Taran Adarsh, the main reason for the cold response from the audience was the presence of Rajamouli’s film RRR. The film faced stiff competition from the RRR on the big screens in small towns. And even in multiplexes in metro cities, the film did not do as well as hoped.

Meanwhile, RRR continues to make inroads at the global box office. The film grossed Rs 710 crore worldwide in its first week. The Hindi version of the film alone grossed Rs 132.59 crore in the first week in India. The Hindi edition of the RRR also named itself after the biggest first week gross collection of a Hindi film after Kovid. The Hindi version of RRR has surpassed all the recent Bollywood hits like Suryavanshi, The Kashmir Files, 83 and Gangubhai Kathiyawadi.
