After the Olympics in Paris, sports presenter Norbert König has changed sides. The 66-year-old is now a sports official in one of his favorite sports.
Long-time television presenter Norbert König is now a sports official. The 66-year-old, who retired from ZDF after the Olympic Games in Paris in the summer, was elected to the executive committee of the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB) at the extraordinary Bundestag in Frankfurt am Main.
The sports reporter, table tennis expert and active player is one of the seven newly elected vice presidents in the committee, which will act as the supervisory board in the future. Konrad Grillmeyer, who has led the Bavarian Table Tennis Association since 2016, is now president. The eight candidates received overwhelming majorities and in some cases no dissenting votes at all.
“I’m looking forward to the task,” said König to the delegates, adding with a smile: “Whether I’m up to it remains to be seen.” The tenth largest Olympic association will in future be run by a full-time board. The members of the new executive committee, which will continue to be voluntary, will appoint the board and coordinate with it on the guidelines of the association’s policy.
