Messengers and mobile communications stopped working in several cities of Kazakhstan, where mass protests are taking place. According to Sputnik Kazakhstan, Whatsapp and Telegram have ceased to function in Almaty. In addition, the mobile internet is disabled.

Also, mobile Internet does not work in the center of Aktau. You cannot use instant messengers in this area. Moreover, in catering establishments it is impossible to pay with a bank card.

In general, rallies are held in Aktau, Atyrau, Alma-Ata, Nur-Sultan, Karaganda, Uralsk, Taldykorgan, Kyzylorda and Shymkent. People are demanding to reduce the cost of food, the price of gas to 50 tenge per liter (8.45 rubles) and to lift the moratorium on the hiring of new workers.

Beeline confirmed the existence of communication problems in Kazakhstan. “Currently, we are experiencing restrictions on the provision of mobile Internet services for reasons beyond the control of the companies,” – said in the operator’s Twitter post.

Earlier today, the government commission of Kazakhstan, amid protests from the population, announced a reduction in prices for liquefied gas to 50 tenge per liter (8.45 rubles) in the Mangistau region. The rallies began after the New Year in several localities at once. The reason for this was the two-fold increase in the price of gas for refueling cars – to about 120 tenge per liter (20.28 rubles).

Amid the protests, Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev called on the protesters “not to follow the calls of destructive individuals interested in undermining stability and unity” in Kazakhstan. The head of state specified that the government will separately consider other demands of citizens of a socio-economic nature at tomorrow’s working meeting.
