Without investing too much in advertising and marketing, Netflix’s new South Korean TV series is climbing all the worldview charts. “Squid Game”, available from last September 17th, is in fact becoming a real phenomenon, thanks to a very high production quality and a narrative system capable of resonating extremely familiar even outside its social context of origin. Therefore, a slow but stable process of decolonization from the Hollywood standard in television series is expected, as demonstrated for example by our local public, who are watching “Squid Game” en masse even without the dubbed version in Italian.
