Colombo – The police have started investigations from various angles regarding the death of Dinesh Softer, the Executive Committee Director of Sri Lanka’s leading insurance company, Janashakti Insurance Company, who was murdered in the Boralla cemetery.
As per the order of Colombo No. 02 Court Judge Sampath Jayawardene, post-mortem examinations were conducted on the body of Dinesh Safter yesterday.
According to this, the post-mortem report revealed that strangulation was the cause of death.
Police investigation angles
Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Talduwa said that investigations are being conducted by several special police teams and the Organized Crime and Homicide Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.
He said investigations are being conducted on the basis of CCTV footage and phone data.
The police have recorded the statement of about 15 people including the employees of Boralai Public Cemetery and wife of Dinesh Chaudhary in connection with this incident.
Police sources suggest that Dinesh Softer may have visited the Boralai public graveyard alone.
Dinesh Softer’s car was cremated the day before yesterday, near the area where it was parked in the public cemetery.
The police are also investigating the possibility that the suspect may have visited to take part in the last rites.
In this situation, investigations have also been conducted on famous international cricket commentator and journalist Brian Thomas.
Police media spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Nihal Talduwa said that they will not conduct investigations from only one angle, but have started investigations from various angles.
He says investigations are being conducted through all the evidence he has received, not just Thomas of Bry.

Criminal Investigation Department officials have conducted investigations against famous international cricket commentator and journalist Brian Thomas.
Dinesh Safter has already filed a complaint with the police regarding the receipt of crores of rupees by Thomas of Bry from the deceased Dinesh Safter.
Dinesh Softer left the house the day before yesterday, telling his wife that he was going to get back the crores of rupees he had given her.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed from the investigations that Dinesh Softer has informed this matter to one of the acting directors of his company.
Based on this, the Criminal Investigation Department officials have conducted investigations against international cricket commentator Brian Thomas, who is said to have received several crores of rupees from Dinesh Safter.
In this situation, the Boralla police have highlighted the issues in the presence of Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kokunuwala regarding the incident.
After examining the matter, the judge has banned international cricket commentator Brian Thomas from traveling abroad.
Police also informed the court that Bray’s Thomas was in possession of two passports.
Subsequently, the judge has issued an order to the Department of Immigration and Emigration to travel abroad through two passports.
Further, the court has issued an order to the relevant telephone companies to obtain the telephone data while the police have sought permission to conduct investigations through telephone data.

Colombo – Dinesh Softer, a famous businessman, was rescued yesterday evening from his car parked inside the Boralai Public Cemetery, with his hands tied and his neck strangled.
Dinesh Softer, who was rescued in this way, was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit of the Colombo National Hospital and was being treated, but died yesterday night.
Yesterday afternoon, Dinesh Softer had left his house on Bloomer Road, Colombo, stating that he would take the loan.
