Colombo: Sri Lanka announced squad for Asia Cup cricket. Sri Lanka announced the 20-member squad with just a week left for the tournament to begin when all the other teams had already announced their squads. Bhanuka Rajapakse and Dinesh Chandimal made it to the Dasun Shanaka-led team.
The political crisis in Sri Lanka caused the team announcement to be delayed. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board had earlier selected the team and sent it to the sports ministry for approval, but the ministry rejected it citing the delay in the selection of the team. With this, even Sri Lanka’s participation in the tournament became uncertain.
