Cricketer Accused of Match-Fixing in International Cricket and LPL

The International ‌Cricket Council (ICC) ​has accused Sri⁣ Lankan cricketer Praveen Jayawickrama of match-fixing in international⁤ cricket and the Lankan Premier⁢ League‌ (LPL).

Jayawikrama has been accused of violating three clauses of the ICC​ Code ‌of Conduct. ‌The charges include:

⁣Encouraging match-fixing.
Engaging in match-fixing in the LPL.
* Obstructing an ⁣investigation by deleting messages ⁣related to⁣ corruption.

Despite the serious allegations, Jayawikrama has been⁤ given 14⁤ days ‌to respond to the complaint, with the deadline set for August 20. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board will also take action in conjunction ⁢with the ​ICC if the allegations ⁢are proven.

Jayawikrama,⁢ who made his international ⁢debut in a Test ⁤match against Bangladesh, has played five matches in each of the three formats⁢ (Test, ODI, T20) and has taken 32 wickets in ⁢15 international ⁤matches.
