A Sri Lankan flight booked for 100 Sri Lankan workers to work in Korea was canceled late, leaving their job dreams shattered and forced to return home.

With the intervention of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau, these 100 employees were going to go to Korea the night before yesterday.

Confused situation

Due to the sudden delay of the flight there was a very chaotic situation at the airport and finally the flight was canceled and everyone went back.

The Human Resources Department of Korea has notified the Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau not to send this group to Korea until the 3rd of the following year due to the inability to send the group on time.

Six of the 100-member group will not be allowed to return to Korea, Foreign Employment Bureau sources said.

Sources said that the group may be above the prescribed age.

On June 20 last year, UL Flight 470 was delayed by 12 hours, causing serious problems in sending workers to Korea.

Last year also on May 23, the Sri Lankans refused to accept the workers to Korea because the flight that was supposed to take them to Korea was delayed.

Finally, the group was ready to leave for Korea on June 4th, but the flight was delayed by two hours even then.
