Colombo: Sri Lanka has banned government employees from commenting on social media. The action comes after a few teachers and health workers made allegations on social media that school children are getting tired due to the economic crisis of the country.

Earlier, he was also banned from responding to the media. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Management for 15 lakh government employees, social media posts are also included in the ban. The order also states that disciplinary action will be taken if the opinion is expressed against the conditions laid down on social media.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Kehelia Rambukwella said that the allegations of children failing in schools are politically motivated.
