Srilanka unveils world’s biggest blue sapphire stone

One of the rarest and most precious gems was found in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, three months ago. Ratnapura is about 85 km from the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.

Although this stone was found on earth 3 months ago, it has only just been introduced to the world. The stone will soon be sold in the international market on behalf of the National Gem and Jewelery Organization of Sri Lanka.

For this, some studies are being carried out on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka. The gemstone is said to contain metals such as aluminum oxide, titanium, iron and nickel.

It has been reported that this gemstone is to be sold at a higher price in the international market due to the prevailing economic conditions in Sri Lanka. The stone weighs a total of 310 kg. Its value is said to be more than Rs 2,500 crore. It is noteworthy that a 510 kg carat gemstone was found while digging a well in the same Ratnapura last July.
