The enraged public has been fighting in the streets. They have been protesting by besieging the houses of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and ministers.
In this context, the public gathered there today to lay siege to the house of Minister Jones Fernando in Kurunegala. They marched aggressively towards the minister’s house, defying police security and barricades placed there.
Seeing this, Minister Fernando rushed out of his house, fearing that the public would be caught in the crossfire. According to reports, he is currently hiding in his hotel in the capital Colombo for security reasons.
Like Jones Fernando, other ministers seem to have fled their homes and taken refuge in hotels.
