Regarding this topic, Laura Olivia Molina López, who is the head of Homeopathic Pharmacy of the National Homeopathic Hospital, affirmed that this element is a national benchmark in the conservation and management of this type of drugs. He also said that they always work with the highest quality and safety standards and in strict adherence to the Pharmacopeia of the United Mexican States (FEUM).
Medical specialties in which it is used
In 2022 and so far this year, the service of homeopathic pharmacy It has supplied 20,413 prescriptions free of charge to hospitalized patients who receive this type of medication, in the specialties of pediatrics, internal medicine and gynecology.
During the conference cycle “Implementation, achievements and scope of homeopathy in Mexico and internationally”, Molina López pointed out that the patients receive comprehensive treatment by qualified personnel with a high sense of humanity, as well as homeopathic medicines.

He stressed that, for the conservation and management of these drugs, the hospital’s homeopathic pharmacy service uses technology that ensures the quality and reliability of the 530 drugs they have. They are classified into three categories: the so-called polychrests, which are the most used; semi-polychrests, of medium use, and organotropic ones, of less demand.
He explained that in all cases the operating rules are complied with and it has sanitary authorization from the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris); control systems; conditions of conservation areas; distribution diagrams; as well as a plan for the prevention and control of harmful fauna.
Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia 4.0
The executive director of the Pharmacopoeia of the United Mexican States and Pharmacovigilance, José Antonio Maza Larrea, announced that the guide The Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United Mexican States 4.0, is endorsed by the General Health Council (CSG) and entered into force on July 10. The objective is to provide technical and scientific information to regulate homeopathic ingredients.
He explained that the document updates the list of 82 medicinal plants that are used in the preparation and management of homeopathic medicines, to strengthen care with quality and safe medicines that are provided to patients.
The coordinator of the Committee of Homeopathic Products of the Pharmacopeia of the United Mexican States (FEUM), José Luis Ruiz Segura, mentioned that this edition contains historical aspects; drug classification; Pharmaceutical forms; inventory control; handling and storage; hospital homeopathic pharmacy and health regulation, among other aspects.
The member of the National Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the FEUMRoberto Enciso Rodríguez, highlighted the importance for medical and laboratory personnel to identify the different uses of medicinal plants for tinctures and preparations.
He also announced that the 5.0 edition is being prepared, which will include substances of animal and mineral origin. Experts from the Health sector and from academia in the botanical and hemobotanical areas participate in these methodological updating works.
