A few hours ago, the moment in which pMexico City (CDMX) police evicted a citizen and his dog from a Metro car in the country’s capital.
The moment caused a stir on social networks, who stated that the authorities had acted with arrogance to remove the man and his dog, since there was an intense fight of back and forth between the uniformed officers and the citizen.
Now, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of CDMX has responded to the situation, generating debate about compliance with public transportation regulations.
Police action in emergency situation
The SSC statement states that they were the CDMX Metro users who activated the emergency lever at the Garibaldi station on Line 8, requesting the intervention of the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI).
As established in article 161, section XI of the Mobility Law, the pets must travel in a carrier, which was not happening in this case.
The citizen refused to leave the car, which led to an argument with the police officers. While some passengers recorded the scene, others expressed their annoyance at the situation.
Given the impact of the incident, the SSC has announced that the General Directorate of Internal Affairs and the Directorate of Supervision and Corporate Evaluation of the PBI are carrying out a internal administrative investigation.
Where the objective is to evaluate the actions of the police officers involved in the eviction of the passenger and his pet, to know if they incurred a fault against the citizen and against the animal.
