The SSK are on course for promotion in the 2nd class North A. The course for the future was already set last weekend.
Due to the bad weather, the SSK had to cancel the final of the 2nd Class North A against St. George’s last Sunday. In second place, the home side are still one point ahead of St George’s and are therefore in a promotion position. Although the team is aiming for promotion to Division 1 North at the end of the season, the board has been setting the course for the future behind the scenes. A new coach, Andreas Hajek, was hired for the coming season on Sunday. The 55-year-old will be supported by current manager Hüseyin Karaduman from the summer.
Hajek faces the challenge
“Undoubtedly a challenging but exciting task,” emphasizes Hajek, who recently took a break for health reasons. Hajek celebrated his best success as a coach at ASV Salzburg. He led Itzlinger from the 1st Division North to the 1st State Division within three years. “Things won’t happen that fast with the SSK, but we want to stabilize the club again,” explains Hajek, who wants to attract one or two former starters to Gnigl. “I will definitely be in contact with some players I know from the past,” emphasizes the new coach, who has already worked with current SSK players Anil Güven and Kadir Eyigun at ASV.
It is a return to Gnigl
Hajek is no stranger to SSK. The former SAK kicker ended his active career in Gnigl and got his first experience as a coach at the SSK. Before the new coach takes over in the summer, the townspeople are aiming for promotion to Division 1 North. Class 2 North A continues next Saturday (4 pm) with the away game at Bürmoos 1b. “If a promotion doesn’t work out, I’ll take over as well,” Hajek explains.
