Not alone entrance can experience the Menti stadium. And not only the new square named after Paolo Rossi. Who better than the residents of the neighborhood which is characterized by one of the most famous sports theaters in Italy can certify the precarious conditions of the arena in which Lr Vicenza plays? That’s why, the other daythe citizens’ committee who live in the neighborhood took a pen and paper and wrote a letter addressed to the owner of the Lane, Renzo Rossoand (for information) to the Mayor Giacomo Possamai.

The letter

The president of the committee Roberto Amato and the vice-president Paola Filippetto, always with the constructive spirit that has distinguished them in their claims and with more than conciliatory tones, wanted to highlight some critical issues of the structure that was erected in 1934 and that, despite having been subjected to numerous restyling and retouching works, it is heavily affected by the wear and tear of time. «Dear Mr. Renzo Rosso – they write, copying the mayor -. You, as a good entrepreneur, have invested part of your capital in the purchase of our city’s football team. This choice has satisfied us, the inhabitants, because it guarantees the presence of the team in the various competitions, with the pleasure of attending and following the matches in their temporal deadlines. As president and vice president of the committee of the Neighborhood Stadium, living almost next to it, We would like to point out some critical issues to you».

The critical issues

So, the two citizens start with a short but precise list of things that are not right: «The interior of the sports complex is well kept, as the main entrance, redone recently with the adjacent one pleasant little square Paolo Rossi. But the renovation and painting efforts stopped there. Entering from the entrance with the arch that bears the name of the Stadium, you cannot notice the rest of the perimeter, whose the structure, to us residents, appears quite degraded. The walls along Viale dello Stadio are moldy and poorly hidden by large photos. The iron doors, affected by rust, are covered in various writings and signs. The old ticket offices, on the Viale Trissino side, have plaster covered in black mold. In conclusion, there is no part of the structure that is in good condition, excluding the entrance and the small square dedicated to Paolo Rossi. A decent stadium, well-kept and repainted, would make the neighborhood and the city more attractive. We have a wonderful Teatro Olimpico, why have a dilapidated Stadio Menti? They are public places of entertainment and entertainment in their diversity».

Who knows if the owner and the mayor will listen to the residents’ appeal and if someone else will join the requests contained in this open letter.

The committee

The citizens who live in the stadium area formed a committee a few months ago, especially to press the municipal administration on the works needed to avoid the floods that occur after every downpour.
