New Delhi: Stalin, the DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, inaugurated the Anna – Artist Academy, the DMK office in Delhi. The function was attended by leaders including Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

In 2006, the Union government decided to allot a seat in Delhi to a party with 7 MPs in both houses of parliament. Based on this it was ordered to allocate land ranging from 500 square meters to 4 acres depending on the number of MPs. In that regard, in 2013, the DMK was allotted land near the BJP office in the Deendayal Upadhyaya Marg area in Delhi.

Later, the construction work of the Anna-Artist Academy, the DMK office here, began. In June last year Delhi Stalin, the last chief minister, visited and inspected the construction work and instructed that the work be completed as soon as possible. Accordingly the works were completed last December. Built on a total area of ​​8 thousand square feet with 3 floors, the building houses libraries named after Anna and Karunanidhi. While it was decided to open the building last January, it was not opened due to increased corona spread.

In this context, Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated the Anna-Artist Academy at 5 pm today and hoisted the DMK flag on the flagpole erected there. Also, the statue of DMK founder Anna was unveiled on both sides of the building by the party’s general secretary and Tamil Nadu water resources minister Duraimurugan. The statue of former chief minister Karunanidhi was unveiled by party treasurer and DMK parliamentary committee chairman DR Palu.

Chief Minister Stalin inaugurated the Murasoli Maran Stadium located on the ground floor of the building. The ceremony was presided over by Cong. Leader Sonia Gandhi, and Sitaram Yechury, D. Raja and Farooq Abdullah of the Communist Party started the candlelight vigil. The function was attended by many including Akhilesh Yadav, Amar Patnaik, P. Chidambaram, Adir Ranjan Chaudhary, Vaiko, Thirumavalavan. At the function, Congress President Sonia Gandhi received the book Karunanidhi – A Life to be published by Hindu N.Ram. Minister Thuraimurugan received the book A Dravidian Journey to be published by Chief Minister Stalin.
