of Arianna Ascione

Directed in 1986 by Rob Reiner “Stand by Me – Memory of a Summer” (scheduled for Thursday 24 June at 9.00 pm on Sky Cinema Drama) is a nostalgic and melancholy coming-of-age story, a story of friendship, of the loss of of the end of childhood from Stephen King’s short story “The Body” contained in the collection “Different Seasons” (1982). The film, set in the summer of 1959 in Oregon, stars four kids – played by four novice actors who will later be cast by this film (Wil Wheaton / Gordon “Gordie” Lachance, River Phoenix / Chris Chambers, Corey Feldman / Teddy Duchamp and Jerry O’Connell / Vern Tessio) – who venture along the railroad tracks in search of the body of a missing peer, Ray Brower. Upon returning home, nothing will be the same again. Waiting to review “Stand by Me – Memory of a summer” here is what has happened to the cast over the years.
