What will Mehta do now?

Mehta is now said to be preparing for a new chapter in his professional journey, with plans to launch a greenfield venture. Over the years, Mehta has contributed significantly to the bank’s operations in India and built his reputation as a veteran in the sector. This decision to leave the corporate world and become an entrepreneur is a significant change in his career. Details about the new venture are still kept secret at the moment, but it is being speculated that his initiative will potentially boost commerce by leveraging his expertise in finance, relationship building, and new-age technology platforms.

Past experience will come in handy

Mehta brings a strong background in financial services, leadership, building new businesses, teams and strategic growth – skills that will undoubtedly serve him well when he takes on an entrepreneurial role. His departure from SCB comes at a time when the Indian financial landscape is rapidly changing, presenting both challenges and opportunities for new entrants. Prior to SCB, Mehta was the country head for liabilities business and commercial banking at Yes Bank from 2005 to 2007.
