The collective of candidates multiplies their meetings while maintaining their manifestations and demands. Yesterday, a meeting was held at the Hotel du Louvre Antaninarenina in the presence of candidates Marc Ravalomanana, Paraina Auguste, Hajo Andrianainarivelo, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, Roland Ratsiraka and Tahiana Razafinjoelina. The representative of the candidate Andry Raobelina also took part in this meeting.

As usual, no information has leaked from this umpteenth meeting. But one thing is certain, they are preparing to face the authorities who insist on holding the presidential election on November 16. The group of candidates, as well as civil society organizations, believe that certain conditions, including the impartiality of the body responsible for organizing the elections and the court responsible for judging them, are not met.

As if to confirm its desire to move towards the election, the collegiate government led by Prime Minister Christian Ntsay decided in the Council of Ministers to release nearly 4 billion ariary under the Ministry of Economy and Finance for replenish the fund of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). This additional budget will help this body to better organize the elections, explains the collegial government in the press release relating to the council of ministers of October 24.

It was also decided to purchase 4 additional vehicles from the CENI to enable it to carry out its tasks within the framework of the multi-year work plan, but also for this presidential election. All this, not to mention the communication campaign of this body on voter awareness and the distribution of voter cards. Corroborating sources also reveal that all the high commissioners and directors within this electoral commission are on mission abroad and in the provinces for the preparations for the elections.

For their part, the collective of 11 candidates refuse to proceed with the campaign and have requested the cancellation or even postponement of this election. Even the candidate Siteny Randrianasoloniako who declared that he wanted to confront Andry Rajoelina, by launching into an electoral campaign, clarified that for him it is not a question of an electoral campaign but of a continuation of the actions of the 11 candidates. The candidate Andry Raobelina, currently convalescing in Mauritius, following his injury, wished to make use of article 47 of the Constitution on the case of force majeure not allowing him to proceed with the electoral campaign and the other candidates have already communicated their intention to cancel the first round.
