The Ivorian financier Stanislas Zézé is our Grand Guest of the economy RFI / Jeune Afrique. He is the head of Bloomfield Investment Corporation, a credit risk assessment agency in West and Central Africa, the equivalent of Moody’s, Fitch or Standard & Poors for the rest of the world. Its activity consists in evaluating the capacity of a company or a State to repay its debts. Son of an Ivorian soldier, 5th in a family of 10 children, he studied in France, then from the beginning of the 1990s in the United States (University of Michigan).

After dreaming of being a business lawyer, he finally opted for finance, thinking he could act more forcefully for the African continent. He works (among others) for the World Bank in Washington, and the AfDB (African Development Bank). Stanislas Zézé is promoting an autobiographical book today: “The man with the red socks».

For more than 45 minutes, Bruno Faure (RFI) and Julien Clémençot (Jeune Afrique) question him on all the major topics affecting economic news in Africa: consequences of coups for trade and business in general , anti-French sentiment, relations with Russia, credit and investment risks (particularly in the DRC), repayment of foreign debt (particularly Chinese), taking into account the climate crisis in the financial assessment. The man some call “the wolf of African finance” is also questioned on more political topics such as governance in Africa, the presidential campaign in Côte d’Ivoire following the return of Tidjane Thiam or the failure of the candidacy of Didier Drogba (cousin of Stanislas Zézé) for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation.
