/ The football star and former head of the Iraqi Football Association, Hussein Saeed, expected on Wednesday that the competition in the Asian Cup would be limited to four teams: Japan, South Korea, Australia and Iran, while he nominated the Iraqi team to reach the round of 16.

Saeed told Agency, “Iraq and Japan will qualify from the fourth group of the Round of 16, and I hope that Iraq will qualify first so that it does not collide with the South Korean team in the next round, so that its chances of reaching the quarter-finals will be revived.”

He stated, “Our team faced Indonesia and Vietnam in two friendly matches and prevailed in both matches easily. The difference in level was clear, and this confirms that Iraq will qualify with the strong Japanese team, which is part of our group, for the round of 16.”

He stressed that “the real test for Casas and his chosen group will be in the Asian Cup,” noting that “Casas has worked for a long time in managing the national team and searching for local and expatriate players, and he has sufficient conviction. We hope that his efforts will bear positive fruit and achieve good results in the Asian Championship.”

Hussein concluded by saying, “There are observations on the defense line and some of the national team’s lines, but Coach Casas took enough time and knows where the areas of strength and weakness lie within our team’s ranks, and I believe that he will address a lot during the tournament.”
