/ On Wednesday, the football star and former head of the Iraqi Football Association, Hussein Saeed, expected that the competition in the Asian Cup would be limited to four teams: Japan, South Korea, Australia and Iran, while he expected the Iraqi team to reach the round of 16.

Saeed told Agency, “Iraq and Japan will qualify from Group 4 to the round of 16, and I hope that Iraq qualifies first so that it does not clash with the South Korean team in the next round, to revive its chances of reaching the quarter-finals.”

He said, “Our national team faced Indonesia and Vietnam in two friendly matches and won both matches easily. The difference in level was clear, and this confirms that Iraq will qualify, along with the strong Japanese team, which is in our group, for the round of 16.”

He stressed that “the real test for Casas and the group he chose will be in the Asian Cup,” noting that “Casas has worked for a long time in managing the national team and searching for local and expatriate players and has developed sufficient conviction, and we hope that his efforts will bear fruit positively and achieve good results in the Asian Championship.”

Hussein concluded by saying, “There are comments on the defense line and some of the team’s lines, but coach Casas took enough time and he knows where the strengths and weaknesses lie in our team’s ranks, and I believe that he will address many of them during the tournament.”
